" Islander Wide Body" camper van info please.

Good Day everyone. Do any members own, have owned,or know anything about a class B manufacturer called " Islander"? They are built in Newfoundland and have a unique over cab bunk style and wide body fiberglass side panels. You do not see too many here in B.C. but I have found one at a local R.V Dealer. It is built on a 1987 Dodge 1 ton chassis with a 318 engine. The builders cut out a major area of the van side walls and replace them with fiberglass sections. I am concerned that if the fiberglass replacement walls are damaged in an accident ect. will these panels be available to the repair shop? Just wondering if any of you fellow B`s have any experience with these models. The condition of the unit is good otherwise and asking price is $ 6,900 with 120,000km. Thanks and good R.Ving to all. Brian.

RE: Does anyone check out the site before paying?

When we arrive at either a Provincial/State Park,K.o.A. or private Rv Park we always park in the lot and introduce ourselves at the front office. We ask to walk through the park first. We record choice sites in a note book, look at the washrooms/showers and determine if the area is dog friendly. If we are satisfied we try to book a site that we have selected but if it is not possible we ask for a secluded spot as we own an American Pit Bull Terrier. Most times the staff will appreciate that we advised them of our dog and many times we will then take him out of our B and introduce him. This always results in them petting Geronimo and giving him too many treats. Often I answer their many questions on the breed. If we are forced to take an appointed site and we do not like it we give an explanation and request another. This all takes a little extra time but we have always been welcomed back, pit bull and all.

Add A Room Tent For A B?

Hi Everyone. Are there any members who have an add a room tent attached to their van for added space when camping in one spot for a few days or more? There used to be "Van Tents" on the market years ago that attached to the side of a full size van and had two D doors. One between the van and tent and one to exit. They had one taller awning that you drove your van underneath, like a carport, and a shorter awning at the other entrance. You could zip up the doors and drive out from under the tent for a trip into town. They were 12x10 or so. Anyone have one of these or know where to purchase one? I have seen the ones for pick ups and mini vans bur they are not the same. Thanks.

Preferences won`t allow viewing pictures on forum?

Hi everyone.
I am a new member and am having difficulty viewing pictures that other members have posted on the forums. I get a message stating that due to my preferences I cannot view the picture. How can I change prefrences or take steps to allow viewing? I do not remember disallowing pictures. Thanks. Abacusblack.

RE: Does anyone actually cook inside their B?

The first thing to remember is that you can cook just about anything anywhere with a few simple tools and a creative mind. My class b is a custom street van camper combo. The walls are buttoned crushed velvet material so I do not want grease/steam or smoke in my van. I have a microwave mounted in a overhead cabnet with the egg poacher, omlet, steamer and browning tray accessories. I have a medium George Forman Grill,A sandwich maker, one cup coffee maker and a small toaster that holds 2 bagels or english muffins. With these tools you can cook a great meal for 2 and by all means have a bbq for those sunny days. Good Cooking everyone.
